South African Travel Womens club was founded in 1958, and it was the exclusively male clubs that were the fashion at that time that led to its formation. Constitutionally, this has remained unchanged since inception. Approx. 200 members benefit from monthly lunches, which provide excellent networking opportunities for women in the travel industry. These lunches also allow sponsors to market their products, directly to the travel industry on a one on one basis, and let’s not forget, money raised at these lunches are donated to the sponsors choice of charity.
To provide a Travel Industry forum for the purpose of networking and to promote a strong foundation of local and international contacts. Further, we aim to present a professional image of South African Women in travel on a local and International level. Men and women support our industry. Our lunch support from our male guests has increased over the years, hence why we decided to open our membership to a Top 100 on invitation only male members. After studying my BA Communication Science Degree I went straight into marketing positions with different corporates until I found my passion in the hospitality industry. I have been in the hospitality industry for the past 10 years always working in sales and marketing for leading brands, until I opened my own company Iconique Brands. I absolutely love the industry and love what I do.
I have hosted 4 Travelbags lunches for Cresta Hotels and one Travelbags lunch for African Sun Hotels, I have been a member of Travelbags since 2010 and I absolutely love being a part of Travelbags, I thoroughly enjoy the lunches and networking with the guests, I have made many new friends in the industry through Travelbags, plus it always brings such joy to my heart to see how charities benefit from these lunches. I am a true philanthropist and was voted SA Bachelorette in 2013 where I raised R120 000 for CANSA.
African Chapter Tours Director
I was exposed to a working world as a young girl with entrepreneurial parents. I enjoyed working within hospitality services while I completed various studies in photography, tourism and then later law. Having been one of the founding members of African Chapter has led to various projects in the travel world including wildlife destinations, conservation of heritage, cultural and environmental aspects within the industry and beyond. I am also a member of the Tourism Collective which provides strategic tourism resources to the industry as well as hold a consultancy position with Fair Trade in Tourism.
Making a difference is important and having a platform such as Travelbags to contribute towards, motivates all to continue supporting where we can. Travelbags have already achieved great successes and I look forward in participating towards the positivity.

Growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa and travelling as an unaccompanied minor to my hometown, East London, ignited my passion for travel; as a cultural and cruise enthusiast, I love exploring exotic places throughout the world. I have been fortunate enough to work in the travel industry since 1990, including several airlines, (South African Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Ethiopian, Jet Airways, Qatar, Gulf and others), tour operators (Thompsons Tours, China Tours) and travel insurance (AIG) as my areas of expertise. Educated and trained in Hong Kong and Bahrain, in all aspects of the Tourism Industry and Sales & Marketing, led to negotiating and signing deals with Top clients in my career; Samsung, LG, Nissan, Toyota, Ford and American Express Global Mining to mention a few, whom I served well, at different stages in my travel career. I have travelled quite extensively to destinations such as Dubai, Ethiopia, India, Hong Kong, China, USA, Rwanda, Bahrain, escorting various groups (travel agents, corporate secretaries and PAs, school groups) on tours.
I have the privilege of operating my own Travel business as a freelance Travel Consultant; and my philosophy is to use my passion to help people make their travel dreams become a reality!
